Why My Mission is to Shine So Brightly, You Can’t See the Old Me

Hey fam, pull up a seat. Let’s pour some tea.
Today, I’m talking directly to the people who see the difference in my life. The change, the peace, the discipline, and maybe you wonder what happened. Maybe you were there for the rough chapters. Maybe you knew me when things were unstable, and now you’re looking for stability too.
I know some of you may be confused by my boundaries, or maybe you question my decisions. I get it. I know I might look different, talk different, or walk in a new kind of peace. But if you’re looking at my life and seeing a light, that’s not a reflection of me; it’s a reflection of God in me.
You are seeing the result of a profound, non-negotiable shift that is now available to you, too.
The Real-Time Battle: I’m Dealing With This Today

I want to be perfectly honest: This isn’t a theory; it’s the air I’m breathing right now.
Even with the change, the growth, and the clear evidence of God’s favor, I still face the struggle many of you see in your own lives. I get talked to in the same dismissive way. People want the new things, the giving, the help, the grace, without treating me one bit differently. They want the gift, but they don’t want to accept the new me, which means they reject the shift God made.
It hurts. It feels frustrating. But that feeling is my reminder that it’s not about me getting different treatment; it’s about standing firm in the difference God has made.
Theological Principle: The New Creation vs. The Old Man

This struggle is actually a theological battle playing out in real life. When you accept Christ, the Bible declares: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
This truth, that you are a New Creation, is not just a nice title. It’s a spiritual reality that requires a new way of living and, yes, a new way of being treated.
The reason people in your “hometown” struggle is that they are still trying to relate to the Old Man that died. They haven’t accepted the resurrection power that changed you. They are judging the new light by the shadow of the old history.
| The Action You Take | The Hometown Person (Clinging to the Past) | The Outsider (Seeing the Purpose) |
|---|---|---|
| You set clear boundaries about time/energy. | “She’s gotten snobby and forgot where she came from. Too busy for family/us now.” (They see rejection of the past.) | “She is focused, professional, and clearly protects her priorities. We respect that.” (They see discipline and integrity.) |
| You speak confidently on a stage/in a meeting. | “Who is he to tell us anything? Remember when he couldn’t even look people in the eye?” (They see past insecurity and lack of position.) | “That speaker commands attention and has authority. We should give him a platform.” (They see transformed confidence and wisdom.) |
My Job Is to Shine So Brightly

I know we are told: “A prophet is without honor in his own country.” (Mark 6:4)
But the solution isn’t to shrink or to beg for a new title. The solution is to let the light of God become so intense that the memory of the Old Me can no longer be seen.
My job is to shine so bright that they get blinded.
If my light blinds you, it’s not because I’m trying to hurt you; it’s because the Light of God demands a decision. You can either shield your eyes and cling to the comfortable darkness of your past assumptions about me, or you can let the intensity lead you straight to the Source.
The transformation you see in me is not a reward; it’s a tool. For these things, for this resistance, it is time for me to shine the light God has put in me and stand in His Word.
I am standing on the truth that “The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.” (Proverbs 4:18). I am walking toward that full light!
If you are seeing a light in me, I am inviting you to stop looking at the light in the jar (me) and come look at the Lamp (God).
He is waiting to transform your life, too. He doesn’t hold your past against you. He just needs your yes.
I am here. I am walking this path. And I want to watch you glow up, too.
Drop a comment! If you see the light and are ready to stop shielding your eyes, what’s the first step you’ll take today?
