Sip the Tea and Find the truth

Walking the Path of Grace and Obedience

Hello everyone. I want to continue a conversation we started in “Million Dollars Worth of Game,” where we wrestled with the three wills. If you’ve ever felt lost, confused, or heartbroken trying to find your place in God’s plan, please know you are not alone. That struggle is real.

Today, we’re talking about the simple but incredibly challenging truth: We must gently, but firmly, let go of our expectations about the Lord’s Will.

The Source of Pain is Not God

The reason this matters is that when we try to force God’s plan to align with our desires for status, money, or recognition, we are using our flesh to pursue a spiritual end. This self-reliance is understandable—we want to succeed! But when we rely on our own will, we will inevitably fail to find His peace.

Here is the compassionate truth we need to hold onto:

  • The pain, confusion, and division that surface when our plans fall apart are not inflicted by God. They are the natural consequence of our human will pushing against the current of His perfect, peaceful plan.
  • The Lord’s Word and Will are flawless; they will not lead to confusion or division. They only bring clarity.

Grace for the Journey

Following God requires a commitment to absolute obedience and self-persecution. It is a continuous, active effort to set aside our ego and desire. It’s hard work, and we all stumble.

Please hear this with all the grace it holds: It is absolutely okay to mess up. Your journey is not about being flawless; it is about faithful repentance, and getting back up and quickly returning to His path. The Lord cares for us deeply and has already provided every single thing you need for the walk He’s called you to.

The Corporate Call: Seeing His Design at Work

A deep source of frustration comes when we want to do God’s Will but feel stuck, not knowing how or where to begin. We try to start our own “thing” and end up burned out.

The Struggle: You have a beautiful calling on your heart for outreach, so you try to start a massive new program all by yourself. You are trying to create God’s Will in isolation.

The Answer: Instead, pause and look around with fresh eyes. Look for where His Will is already taking place. Look at your church, or another ministry. They are already moving. Your obedience is to humbly involve yourself in that existing movement.

The Peace: You find peace when you realize His Will is much bigger than your individual efforts. It takes a whole church, a whole congregation, to make His Will work. Your specific, unique gift is meant to connect with the larger body of Christ.

Finding Clarity Through Connection

The Lord desires to communicate His Will to you. If you are feeling lost, try redirecting your energy away from your confusion and toward connection:

  1. Fast: Create space for the Spirit by temporarily silencing the demands of the flesh.
  2. Pray & Listen: Spend more time listening than asking. Wait for His quiet instruction.
  3. Worship: Shift your focus entirely off your desires and onto His worthiness.

Trust the process. When you trust the path of pure obedience, you step out of the frantic effort of self-will and into the peace of His perfect plan.

May this bring you peace and clarity as you continue to seek His face. Please feel free to leave a word in the comments like Amen!
