Sip the Tea and Find the truth

Do you see yourself as a leader?

Do you see yourself as a leader?

When I first read this prompt, I had to stop and take a moment. The world’s definition of a leader—someone in charge, a person of power, a CEO, a boss—is so different from the path God set me on. My entire journey, from my humble beginnings to where I am today, has been about surrendering my own ego and becoming nothing but a tool for His purpose. So, if I answer with a simple “yes,” it feels like a betrayal of all that truth.

But then, I remember the Blue Bag Foundation Inc. My hands are a part of that. My story is the why behind it. I am actively working, building, and showing a way forward for girls who are where I once was. In that sense, I’m a leader, but not in the way the world understands it. I am a leader not because of what I control, but because of what I’ve surrendered.

I see myself as a guide, a trailblazer who has already walked through the fire. I am simply pointing back to the one who carried me through it. My life isn’t a monument to myself; it’s a living map that says, “He did it for me, He WILL do it for you.” The leadership isn’t about me at all; it’s about the light of Jesus shining through a broken vessel. The light is the authority; I am just the jar of clay.

So, do I see myself as a leader? Yes, in the most humble and grace-filled way. My leadership is in my weakness, my scars, and my obedience. It’s a leadership that stands on the truth that it is not me, it is all God—my Abba and my Adonai. He is the King; I am just a willing servant building His kingdom.

What does leadership look like through the lens of your own journey?
