The Beautiful Scraps of Our Lives

The biggest myth about creating something new is that you can do it from nothing. People often believe they need a blank slate to build something great, a perfect starting point, a clean break from the past. But as a business owner, a writer, and a mental health coach, I’ve learned that’s not where real change happens. My own journey began with very little, but those years didn’t leave me with nothing; they left me with a deep understanding of resourcefulness. That experience became a crucial part of my story, a piece of the foundation I used to build the life I have now. This idea aligns with the promise we find in the Bible. As a business owner and a mental health coach, I’ve seen firsthand how challenges can be used for good. Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” This doesn’t mean our hardships are easy or painless, but it confirms that even the most difficult pieces of our lives can be used for a greater purpose. A writer doesn’t invent a new language; they arrange words that have been around forever in a new way. A mental health coach doesn’t give you a new mind; they help you take the thoughts and feelings you already have and find a new way to process them. A business owner doesn’t pull a company out of thin air; they build it from their existing skills, ideas, and experiences. The real act of creation is in taking these beautiful scraps and finding a powerful new way to put them all together.
