What positive emotion do you feel most often?
Curiosity is a powerful and beautiful emotion, especially when viewed through the lens of faith. It’s the feeling that pulls us toward new ideas and deeper understanding. But for me, this emotion was long buried. For years, my world was defined by heartache and loss. The most critical time of my life was spent surviving on the streets as a teen, where the persecution and judgment of others walled me off from the world. There was no room for curiosity; I was in constant “survivor mode.” It wasn’t until after years of this heartache and loss that I began to learn the peace that Christ offered. And it wasn’t until I accepted that peace that the gift of curiosity was bestowed upon me. It was always there, of course, but I never had the chance to use it or explore. The Bible warns us in Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” This truth became my reality. Once I stopped leaning on my own limited understanding and tapped into the limitless fountain of Christ’s wisdom, my curiosity found its purpose. It’s a curiosity that truly has no limits.
