What brings you peace?
I was a runaway at 12, a kid on the streets until I was 19. My life was a storm of constant struggle, and I was desperate for just a moment of peace. I tried everything to find it.I lost myself in music, hoping to drown out the noise in my head. I used drugs and alcohol to numb the pain that felt too big to bear. I even tried self-harm through tattoos and, at my lowest points, considered giving up entirely. I explored different religions, hoping a new path would lead me somewhere different. But nothing worked. The peace I was looking for was always just out of reach, a cycle of searching and disappointment that left me feeling more lost than before. Then, I met Jesus, and everything changed. The chaos and despair I had carried for so long began to lift. It wasn’t an instant fix, but a deep, quiet calm settled in my heart. I discovered a peace that wasn’t dependent on my circumstances or what I was doing, a peace Jesus promised when He said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27. It’s a peace that, as the Bible says, “transcends all understanding.” Philippians 4:7. It was a comfort I had never known. Now, my greatest joy is helping others find that same peace. I know what it’s like to feel lost and hopeless, and I’ve made it my mission to share the hope I found. That’s why I wrote a 30-day devotional specifically for at-risk girls. I want to help them restore and redeem themselves, guiding them toward the peace of Christ that can “rule in your hearts.” Colossians 3:15. Jesus truly is the Prince of Peace, and He has been the steady anchor in my life ever since.
