Standing Tall When Someone Tries to Humble You

Hey fam, let’s get into some real talk today. You know that feeling when you’re soaring, so excited about a new blessing. You could be fulfilled by a recent win or just genuinely happy, and someone close to you feels like it’s their job to bring you back down to earth? The constant critiques, the backhanded compliments, the subtle jabs that chip away at your joy? It’s not just annoying….vit’s a deeply painful and hurtful thing to experience.
But here’s the tea: It’s not their job to humble you.
Our Lord elevates us. He places you in that very position, for this very time, for a reason. Don’t let someone else’s insecurity or their own unhealed hurt become a cage for your spirit. Their attempt to “ground” you is often a reflection of their own struggles, not a divine directive for your life.
This is your moment to protect your peace with love. Love yourself enough to put up boundaries. You are not being selfish; you are being wise. Boundaries are not about keeping people out; they’re about protecting the sacred space within you where God’s light shines brightest. No one should be allowed to control how you think, feel, or express yourself.
It’s time to stand tall in the knowledge that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. God made you and every piece of you was made with intention and  not by mistake. This is your season to love and respect yourself just as He does. You are a masterpiece, not a project that needs to be fixed or humbled by others.
And the best part is you are not doing this alone. We have a powerful companion, the Holy Spirit, who is there to help us when we feel like we can’t do it ourselves. Lean into Him. Surrender the pain and the frustration. Believe in His promises and all that He has made you to be.
Scripture to Sip On:

  • Psalm 139:14: I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
  • Proverbs 4:23: Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
  • Ephesians 2:10: For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
So, tell me….                                       What’s one way you’re going to protect your peace this week?
